Recognition of Prior Learning PDF Print E-mail

Formal skills recognition helps canididates to:

  • save study time and money
  • get back into the workforce
  • improve their job security
  • gain a promotion
  • change careers
  • move from volunteer work to paid employment

The Work Lab has designed a range of software applications (powered by The Competency Navigator) to help Registered Training Organisations with skills and knowledge assessement processes. Victorian Skill Stores, for example, use software that maps clients perceived competencies to training courses. Once clients select a relevant training course, the validity of their competency selections is determined by an indicative evidence gathering process. This evidence gathering process:

  • helps candidates to decide if recognition of prior learning (RPL) suits their learning style
  • increases candidate understanding of RPL
  • identifies evidence types and hence the suitability of candidates for RPL portfolio assessments
  • reduces the costs and time for Registered Training Organisations in careers counselling

The Work Lab has developed several different versions of this software for TAFE institutes, adult education colleges and employment service providers.
